fine. ft's should append the following on all corresponence:

Kind reminder: If employer signs a contract with a foreign expert but decides to break the contract after the employee has spent many time and money on the health certificate, visa and flight, then the employee will report the employer to his/her embassy. The employers information will be added to that countrys employment blacklist as well as the worldwide employer blacklist maintained by the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Hiring and Human Trafficking. Employer will no longer be able to hire foreign experts, so please think carefully before breaking the contract.

I know I have gotten myself into this mess and it was silly, but I am really drawn to the second position.
I will feel terrible for letting the first school down but I will have to deal with that. I am wondering though; whether taking the second job is even an option for me, since I already have an invitation letter from another school? Both are in different provinces.
What should I do?

I don't like people excoriating others over things like this, but I feel compelled to comment that you seem to know the morally proper thing to do. Why are you asking total strangers to alter your moral compass? Are you asking for permission to scr*w over the first school?

You aren't in a mess unless you accepted the position at the second school and allowed it to proceed with applying for the letter of invitation.

It's highly unlikely that at this date the second school has begun the motions of applying for the letter of invitation (provided, of course, that you received the offer only a few days ago). It isn't too late to do the right thing with few or no repercussions.

My advice: turn down the second (supposedly better) job offer, bite the bullet, and proceed to work for the first school. Your conscience won't bother you, and, in the end, it'll be a character-ennobling experience that will help you to make better decisions in the future.
