				| small paragraph including your full name
 your employer's name & address
dates of employment (or start date)

That worked for me in the past

it might help if it has the employers seal (inkan/hanko) on it too.

				| thanks. Just the basics then, nothing elaborate. I have to send all of this back to the company who will submit for the visa-I guess they will stamp it themselves if appropriate. I just don't want them to require me to change anything-id rather get it right so they can submit it right away. my contract start date is august and they said it can take a while to get the visa even after they submit everything. I consider myself behind in the proceess but I had some hold ups getting other documents together...

				| My understanding from the official guidelines (and people I've spoken to) is that your main reason for a HWV should NOT be work, but mostly cultural. The work portion should be more incidental.... Again, I dunno for sure -- but I stated in my letter of intent that my purpose WAS mostly cultural.... I was also told horror story rumors about people being denied entry for strange reasons related to this.... I wish I had more detail... This was over a year ago. But maybe being a bit careful/conservative is in order....? In any case it shouldn't be too hard. Just bear in mind that legally speaking, there is a maximum # of hours you can work on a WHV and the type of work you can do is a bit restricted too. So don't write in your letter of intent that you'll be working 40hrs a week for instance.
 Good luck.
