AHPLA is a decent place to work, with good hourly pay for business English classes. Karen pays attention to details such as keeping your travel time down based on where you live.
One drawback they have is that they cannot give out a lot of hours to any one teacher. They keep a large crew of part time teachers and give you 6-12 hours a week, 15 at best. Full time work they will only give out if you can also work in translations with them. |

Sounds great, trying to juggle 2-3 jobs just to make ends meet, and you gotta factor in that commute time... |

What kind of commute time did you have working for AHPLA? As I mentioned, Karen is good about dealing with it. Your experience was otherwise? |

I'm one who understands why some institutes are heaven to some, and hell to others.
Guy can you clarify why you've used the words can not rather than will not... to help newcomers make informed choices?
Fair and balanced (god forbid I'd ever use that phrase)...

Can not over will not...sure... (I forget sometimes that this info is new to many)
Business English classes are almost all found in the same block of hours - 7-9 AM, 2-4 PM, and after 6...outside office hours. It's not very common to find a company that will contract for classes during work time. It happens and when it does, it's great, but not to be expected.
So, AHPLA, and Anglo, and Tec, and a whole host of others that work that market can usually only ever offer a max of 20 hours a week or so. This is one of the reasons you see a higher hourly rate for business English classes over regular language school hours on-site. |
