I have a full medical check from my home country, stamped and dated for this month. The chest x - ray is dated February 2012.

However, my position start date has been delayed. I will not be applying for my visa until around July.

Will my medical still be valid?

I brought my Australian medical examination reports and x-rays with me when I first came to Nanchang (Jiangxi). The various items had been authenticated and notarized by both the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and also the Chinese Embassy in Australia. These items were 7 months old when I got to China.

I was exempted from most of the local physical examination and tests that are required as part of the process for obtaining a Foreign Expert's Certificate and the Foreigner's Residence Permit.

The only part of the process that I had to have redone in Nanchang was the blood testing relating to HIV/AIDS and the other STIs. Apparently there is an international acceptance that such tests only have a currency for 6 months.

That was 11 years ago now. This being China, the rules may have changed or may be applied differently these days.

Not sure about from a home country, but the ones I had done in the Chinese government hospital specifically say in English that they are valid for 6 months from the date of issue.
Bearing in mind the checks you've already done will likely only be valid for the visa application process and there's a better than average chance you'll have to re-do them once you get to China to apply for the residence permit.

Your FAO at your new employer should be able to guide you.
Remember bring your X ray films as this will likely avoid another zapping.
Even though my blood tests were no more than 6 weeks old last time, the locals still wanted more done.
If an abdominal ultrasound is NOT part of your home country checks, then expect to be examined as part of the visa process once you're on site.
