Hi,

So I had to leave a contract early, I won't go into details as I am sure that the details won't affect the replies you put. But I left a school and went back to my home country, which obviously the school were not happy with. But it was needed at the time.

However I really liked China and had already been working there for a year. I want to go back, and don't want a bad school experience to change that.

I was in Hainan, but I want to go to one of the big cities like Beijing or Shanghai.

Will there be problems like the Hainan employer blacklisting me etc?

What are my chances of getting a job again in another province?

My residence permit was due to run out this July if that affects anything?

Thanks

It may help to read my experiences with this.

The topics were:

"Warning! Henan Business College, Zhengzhou"

"There IS a blacklist!"

"NEVER thought this would happen...."

It won't really matter. People break contract all the time and don't get "blacklisted" If you go to another province there will be no problems, you'd probably be fine even if you went to Hainan.

I wouldn't rely on your current residence permit tho as it'd likely be cancelled after you left your previous job. Although i'm just throwing this out there, but it seems that you probably didn't leave the contract legally......did you just pull a runner? Otherwise, since you're coming back, why not just fullfill your contractual obligations since you liked China and going home was "needed" which I interpret that as "I didn't like China, but now i'm back home and I can't find a job so I guess i'll go back"

Unfortunately the "details" of why you left of job and what happens after you leave a job are important. If you left the school with the schools knowledge and their relenting acceptance, it will be easy to come back. If you just ran out on the school in the middle of the night and now trying to come back presumably within a few months of leaving......that's different.

Details do indeed change what comments and advice people are going to give you. This whole situation sounds fishy to me.

Also, I don't plan on going back to China until next year at least, the matter at home is still ongoing.
However I would like to know whether I can go back and work for a new employer.

My understanding is that if you go to a different province you should be fine. Might want to get the job and visa's first before you leave for China again.

It's possible for you to leave a job early with no release and return to an adjacent city in the same province. I did it. I even put the previous school on my resume. I don't think FAO's give much thought to former employees after they're gone.

I was told by my last FAO that the blacklist database is being progressively rolled out across the country.
I imagine it was made available to areas of high FT employment with less popular areas getting access later.
I guess what I'm saying is that older experiences may now be out of date.
I'd 'fess up to any prospective employer. It would be serious loss of face to be told that the FT they're trying to register is blacklisted. Armed with fore - knowledge they have a chance to prepare a case for you.
The fact that OP is trying to come back indicates that his initial recoil from the reality of life in China has been overtaken by a more considered view.
Who of us hasn't considered doing a runner - even if we didn't actually do it.
I reconnoitered the bus route to the airport and made a plan to progressively move my gear to the airport hotel over a weekend, so as not to alert the bosses.
In the end I resigned and got a new and better job.
