Does anyone know when private schools hire teachers for the fall?
I was thinking about going to Atalya in June and looking for positions but will anyone be at the schools at that time? Would it be better to go in August for instance? |

Hiring for the fall varies by the school. It can take place any time from April to September. If you understand that most schools won't be taking on new teachers in June, and you'll have some downtime, then it's definitely better to come earlier.
I'd also mention that Antalya has a very high number of expats which means 1. competition will be tight and 2. cost of living is possibly the highest in Turkey.

Hi Qaaolchoura,
Thanks so much for this info. Didn't realize the cost of living was so high in Antalya. Is it at least cheaper than Istanbul?
Thanks,

On what do you base the theory that Antalya has the highest cost of living in Turkey? |

Sorry for the late response. I had some computer issues.
Any rate,
I base my statement on Antalya on the amount the Turkish government requires you to prove in funds to obtain a residency permit (if you're not married to a Turk or have a work visa).
In Antalya it's 500 USD per month of stay, Istanbul 300, Izmir 200-something.
I've never actually been there, since no trains run and since as a popular expat haunt I expected good jobs to be hard to come by.
