Hi all,
I just have a few quick questions about the possibilities of working in melb.
Im an aussie. Ive worked in Spain for 12 years now as an ESL teacher.
I dont have a tefl cert or a degree. but i could get a tefl.
Id like to know if i could work ANYWHERE in melb with only 12 years experience and a tefl cert but no degree.
Are there less reputable schools that dont ask for a degree?
thanks |
You do not have a degree and you absolutely have no formal teaching qualification; other than those bullshit TEFL certificates you can purchase for a few hundred quid, fraudulently I may add. Then you wish to work in Education in Australia. Do you remember the dog that chased its tail? That is what you will be doing.
I left Australia because even after six years of formal academic study, both undergraduate and post graduate I was unable to secure work in my specialist field. The truth is you will have no luck, even though this is a very tardy reply and circumstances have changed.
In Australia there is no work in Education unless you are a math or science teacher. There is no hope of any graduate in the field of education at Primary or Secondary level securing employment unless they have a nepotistic connection. It is a very skewered view universities are exhibiting that there is a plethora of jobs in Education, that is false and misleading. Why do so many graduates in all areas of education leave for the UK, Asia and Europe?
I just wish University education faculties would demonstrate maturity and honesty on matters relating to post graduate studies. I have said this before in another post, Universities keep their education programs running to keep academics employed, it is not because there is a high demand for teachers, that is totally distorted.
Australian institutions, stop feeding false information on the employment opportunities in Education, there are none! There are employment opportunities in asset maintenance. Need a cleaning job? go to Australia. Bye bye. |
