I�m an Irish national. I�ve been teaching in Thailand for 5 years full-time.
Have a TESOL and TEFL Cert. from Thai course providers.
In 3 years I�ll graduate with a B.A. TESOL from an accredited (internationally) Thai University.
I�ll be 35 with a Thai wife of 4 � years.
I�m contemplating the notion of moving to Japan for maybe two years once I�ve graduated. This would be both for the experience for both my Thai wife and I, as well as presumably having a lump sum saved up after two years of teaching.
My questions would be:
Setting up a job (with visa assistance for both myself and my wife) before arrival, that also helps with accommodation. To do this I presume it would have to be a job through an agency.
Is it possible to organize a full-time job and visa before arrival? and is there a visa for spouses of foreign workers that allows them to stay with their spouse for the duration of their contract?
I prefer teaching Young Learners (Kindergarten level), what are the level of jobs going in this range for people with a B.A. TESOL and 8 years teaching experience? Full-Time Government/Private schools? Working hours? Average salary?
The main thing first is finding out about the spouse�s potential visa, and FT jobs before arrival, that include visa and accommodation.

There's no such thing as an "internationally accredited" degree. If it's a real university then the Japanese government will recognise it as such. Possibly even if it isn't.

All questions dealt with hundreds of times on here. Use the search function or read the stickies. They're there for a reason. The short version is that you shouldn't have any problems on any of those questions, other than the basic one of landing a job. |

Skip any "agencies". Apply directly to employers.

The simple answer is yes. Longer answer is that it may require considerable effort if you don't come here first. Presumably you are looking for entry level work (ALT or eikaiwa), and although the number of employers that use Skype to interview is growing, you may not find all that many. I mention Skype because Japanese employers don't have recruiting offices in Thailand, so unless you come here to look around, that is your only other option, unless you want to get a student visa.

Yes, it's called dependent visa. As long as you have a valid visa first, she can get this.

"Level of jobs" include ALT (through a dispatch agency) in public schools and eikaiwa instructor. Salaries nowadays are 200,000 to 270,000 yen/month, usually on the lower end, depending on location. Private school would also be possible, but the ads for them are fairly scarce.
As Cthulhu wrote, everything you asked has been asked and answered many times before. You also need to state what time of year you hope to come, whether you have a preference for working in a certain area/city. Realize that things may change a bit in the next 3 years.
So, you don't have a degree now and are still able to work legally in Thailand? Is that because you have a spouse visa there? |
