For those of you who give private classes, do you have your own contract you have your students sign? What does it consist of? Do your students actually take it seriously?

I've never drawn up anything on paper...I don't think it would be easily enforceable anyway. I've always had oral agreements with students and haven't had any problems with it. My agreements have always included a 24 cancellation requirement or the student pays for the class.

How much do these companies that provide business English classes typically charge? I know more or less how much teachers make at these jobs (hovers around $200 an hour)....but the company have to be taking their cut.
I saw one business online that advertised their rates and they were charging at least $500 an hour, sold in blocks of 10 or 20 hours a month, all paid in advance (this was either for individual classes or small groups of no more than 4 students). That is some good money if a teacher could charge something similar....after all, in the end, it's the teacher providing the service!

I think the OP is talking about private students - tutoring if you will - and not working for a business English outfit.

But you're right...300-500 pesos per hour is what these companies will charge, then pay the teacher anywhere from 120 to 200 per hour.
