I and my friend both broke contracts while in Korea. I also stayed in China at the same school for nearly 9 years, while he did a 3-year run in Japan at the same place. |
This. I think it is safe to say the ESL scene in Korea and China are vastly different.
How much would one need to make in Shenzhen or Guangzhou to save 500 a month? This is assuming you eat very cheaply and go out for a few beers 2-3 times a week.
Contemplating just waiting another month and save flight money to China. Would much rather work in China than Korea.
Only issue is I have a hard time rationalizing going to China if I cant save 500 a month esp when I think about the money I could make in Korea. |

It's not unreasonably difficult to save that. My jobs are not special and I am socking away 10k RMB this month and I have expenses I do not think you have (a wife). Granted, this is a little higher than normal for me but not by much. I work more than 16 hours a week though. |

That is my goal every month, and it isn't hard for me to meet it. I do have a non-typical job, though. Yes, you will most likely have to work a good bit more, but like Opiate, I have a wife and money is more important to me right now than free hours during the week. I save about the same/a little more than I did in Korea. So, OP, it is possible if you are willing to put in the hours. There are jobs out there that will let you meet your goal without having to totally skimp every month. |
