I want to teach adults. I know there is Wall Street, Web and Meten - but there must be other adult training centres? I'm wondering if there are a few smaller ones I haven't heard of!

Thanks!

uh, there are thousands...

Maybe if you picked a city somebody could tell you some of the names of the larger or better ones.

Really? That's good news if I can find them! I was hoping that those actually in China might be able to give me a few names, because they don't seem to advertise much online. I've done plenty of google searches and even enlisted the help of a couple of recruiters (which I really didn't want to do!) but all I am getting is Web offers!

I don't even mind about location to be honest. A good school is most important, a nice city would be a bonus.

Try Gateway Language village, or GLV. Google that or glvchina. They have branches in Zhuhai and Hangzhou. I know people who work for the Zhuhai branch and they don't have any problems with them. They only teach 16+ and mostly weekdays, so no weekends and evenings. I think theres a bit of negativite feedback here on Dave's about them, but you'll always get disgruntled people. Always ask them to put you in touch with current teachers to get their opinions.

Ordinary private language schools have weekday evening adult classes.
Not sure that you'd be able to teach only the adults and not help with the children's classes - especially on weekends.
I taught adult weekday evening classes for a while as an add on to my daytime uni job.
Met some interesting people.
There's also corporate but as they are free, attendance is variable which makes lesson planning difficult.
I worked for HP and a freight forwarding company in this role for a while.
The forwarding co's training was in paid work time, so everyone turned up.
That said, if I added in the commute time I often wondered if it was really worth it.

^^^ re the above. Often true but not always.

I work in Yangshuo, and there are several adult only training centres and they all operate on a monday to friday - 8.30 - 17.30 type timetable. No evening classes, no weekend classes, no kids classes, no large classes. Pretty much all the students who come to Yangshuo quit jobs, or take a leave of absence to come and study English.

Lower than average wages, but nice town, nice work and nice lifestyle. Omeida, Zhou Yue and Oral English college are the biggest of them here. Google is your friend Smile
