I am insulted by your question. You actually think I might be *shudder*.......Chilean? |

it's possible to make around $3000US/month (or more) in Santiago... granted it's a fair amount of work, working for a couple of different institutes, having your own privates, etc. but if you enjoy it, it's not really work! |
You can't realistically make $3000 a month in Santiago. This post isn't true. |

If it is true, it's very much an exceptional case. I would say an ordinary EFL teacher arriving for the first time in Chile would be very lucky to make half that. Maybe up to $2000 but with decent qualifications and a proper school or university job. In an academy you might only earn around a third of that figure.
I think posts like that are very misleading as it doesn't reflect any normal situation. Possibly, if you are working independently with some well paying companies, but it baffles me how you could have two full academy jobs going plus privates. You wouldn't have enough hours in the day between timetable clashes and travelling to classes. |

Thank you.
Yeah, if you work for 5 different schools and spend your time commuting up and down Line 1, 12 hours a day, plus privates and weekends, you can make $3000 a month. If that's *all you do* - you will not have time to do *anything* else. You will be eating sandwiches from Big John.
I hate when people misrepresent themselves to this extreme. |
