tttompatz: Thanks for that!
I've decided to take the CELTA in Chiang Mai with IH and then look for work while I'm studying for it and hopefully I will get something. Thanks for your help, and I hope you don't mind if I message you again for further advice.

With respect, and without wishing to discourage you in any way, if you are the type of person who needs organization and structure in your life, then Thailand may not be best place for you. Thai management tends to be chaotic, irrational, capricious, and notoriously poor at communicating its impulsive decisions; though these are traits which can also be found in many other Asian destinations. Even navigating the Byzantine Thai immigration maze can be a daunting prospect to those who require cohesion and dependability.

Stability, and life as an EFL teacher are often mutually exclusive, particularly at the lower levels of this notoriously transient industry.

PattyFlipper: You haven't discouraged me at all, thank you for your opinion. I understand what you mean about the way things are done in Thailand as I experienced it on a lesser scale while I was out there. I think I would (just about!) be able to cope with the above you mentioned once settled, but I meant I would prefer more organisation and stability before moving to a new continent. I'm hoping it will work out fine though!
