You haven't been in Japan very long, have you?

17 years this October, and you?

I guess I have a little higher expectations of what young people could be doing rather than simply taking up space when they are in my classes or doing an internship.
Even in stodgy Japan, things do change, and hopefully not too many Japanese companies are still playing the frog in the well game. Then again, maybe Plato's cave does exist, yes?

I agree with Steki47 and Pitarou. Japan has put a lot of effort into managing outside influence, so I don't think they'll cave in to multiculturalism now. On the other hand, I agree that the article exaggerates the situation.
