I think I also received this from Longman , BSK. If you have never been to Shanghai you are in for quite a surprise when your 26 hours turns into 50 or more a week as they send you to a school in one part in the am and a totally different part in the pm. And rent in Shanghai is EXPENSIVE so unless they are giving you 4000 a month for rent expect to be sharing a room or living far out in the city.

And coming on a tourist visa? Havent you done any research? A surprise visit to a school on your first day by the police could be a large problem for you.

And if you show up and they don't like the way you look then bye bye and thanks for stopping bye but the job we promised you is filled already.

This is why I posted my questions here because why reinvent the wheel. All of this really hit me as well seeing the many posts of issues. I understand they may have clout but I feel the same way, why bring me on the Tourist when you could get the proper visa from the start. Sounds like a way to get around contracts to me.

Well, it would certainly be easier for you to have the visa converted here. That is none of the hassle of applying for Z visa at home, health check that would need to repeated here etc. If you don't feel comfortable with it after discussing it with them, pass on it.
