Qinhuangdao has a beach resort (Beidaihe). Nice place, despite being in Hebei.
Close to the end of the Wall (Shanhaiguan).
Not a bad place, all things considered. |

therock, I have to disagree with you....although most of Hebei is a dump, QInhuangdao is quite nice. |

What I was told last night by the person doing the interview is this is where the government people go for resort and meetings. |

rdobbs98, I found this online....

You could ask for the email address of current/former teachers at E&A college for up-to-date information.
I highly recommend the city of qinhuangdao....When I taught in Tianjin, I vacationed in Qinhuangdao for a couple of weeks. Excellent beaches and weather....fantastic place to live! |

This may not be a selling point. Get in touch with the teachers who are currently there and see what they say. If you cannot do that (i.e. the school won't help), or their English seems dodgy, then I would suggest giving it a miss.
I'm between the rock and a hard place, as I have neither visited the city but know Henan. While it is hardly paradise on earth, in all provinces there are good jobs to be found. Focus on the school and the contract and don't be afraid to ask for more than you think you will get. It is a good way of figuring out what you will wish you had.
Anyone who tells you anything with certainty about China is not to be trusted.
(BTW that is 100% true) |

I shudder when I think of what a beach resort in Hebei province looks like |

Right you are. Getting a certain geological persona, their opinions and the threads mixed up it seems.
Minor faults aside, I still stand by my claims. |

Thanks dean_a_jones and everyone for the input. I got there contract and looking it over, previous thread questions about what to look for in the contract has helped with this one. One additional question, they are providing a two room "apartment", I want to live in my own place because of bringing two daughters. Is it out of line to ask for reimbursement for housing? Thanks in advance. |
