This is kind of off topic. I was just wondering whats the best online teaching site for native english speaking teachers? I was going to try rarejobs.com but I think its only for Filipinos. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

I use http://www.wiziq.com but they are not a site where you can find students. They have what I see as the best virtual classroom. |

Its very interesting software. I guess, I'm looking for a teaching website that provides teachers with a list of students and teaching manuals and basically sets everything up for me. |

A well rehearsed dancing monkey routine by a foreign expert that's lived in three English speaking countries. |

I'm a bit confused. Wouldn't private teaching provide more actual income? get some IELTS experience and you'd make plenty of cash.
I'm assuming that, like everything else on the net, this will be saturated with english speakers from poorer countries forcing the income levels down. Genuinely curious if this is not the case. |

@ cormac - I did some work for English-Bee last year. They dont 'give' students, you just list your class on their site. I was getting about 110 RMB for 45 minutes which I felt was OK. I was in the UK at that time.
Also interviewed with TutorABC. They give students and material, but pay about 60 RMB per hour I think. Obviously worse than private students in China, assuming you can 'get' privates.
Generally I would say you are right, online teaching does pay poorly, but for some it may have advantages. Im in the UK right now, and when my seasonal teaching work dries up around October I may go the online route again. Its not easy to find reliable 1-1's here that pay a reasonable amount. I get asked about lessons often, but they arent worth my time mostly.
In my last China job, privates arent easy to find. The only time I have ever been asked was from a current student from my employer, she wanted to stop paying her tuition fees and have privates instead ... too much of a clash of interest there, plus I didnt actually like her too much. Wasnt worth it IMO. Not every place in China has a market for privates TBH, especially if you are choosy about who you teach. |
