Sounds just like me
Yes, i have set up a few dummy lessons to a dummy student (me) and all seems dandy.
Did u also have to get Global English certified? Or is this a new thing? (How did u find this?)

| Yes. I did get Global English certified. It is actually a pretty awesome website as they set you up with your own access to Global English. There are alot of tools on the website that you can use to teach. I worked about 8 to 12 hours a week (about $150 a week). I was living in Thailand at the time and the money came in pretty handy. If you like working for them and want to accumulate more hours, I'm sure you can. |

| I don't recall having a Q & A for GE. I just took the on-line written exam. After you pass the test, you are qualified to teach the GE students. One of the ISUS staff will do the ISUS Q & A. After that, you speak with another member of the ISUS staff to give you an opportunity to ask any questions. Then the test is you conducting a mock "Getting to Know You" class with one of the ISUS staff. After that you should be "good to go"! Everything in the process is scheduled so you won't be doing the steps one immediately after the other. You complete one, then the next step is scheduled several days later. So you have plenty of time to prepare. Also, after you are hired they assign you another teacher as a mentor, which is quite helpful. If you have any issues/problems, you have a fellow teacher to discuss your concerns with. Good luck! Owen. |

Just finished my 1st wk at ISUS & it's AOK!
All students so far are Spanish professionals & i'm enjoying it very much.
ISUS are very supportive providing a Senior Mentor & an excellent web platform that has ready-lessons and great training. All the staff i've contacted have been great.
It gets my nod!
Thx 4 all Owen |

| You should always check before you make the move but, for the most part, you do not need a work permit other than if you were going to move to Spain. Also, make sure the country has reliable internet. Other than that, you should be good to go! Best of luck. |

Can anyone compare Open English and ISUS, from a teacher's perspective?
I have an interview with ISUS in a few days, and would like to know what kind of questions to expect.
I currently teach with Open English, and I love it, but I'd like to get paid more.
Thank you! |

| I wonder how they feel about using a 3G aircard for teaching online? I can get faster and more reliable service with 3G, than with a LAN line. |

Sorry I can't give the above two posters any useful information and I have a question of my own:
Could someone suggest a website with tips and techniques on teaching ESL online one to one. The ones I have found seem more geared towards distance learning classes for universities.
Thanks. |

| Hi sashacleo, I had my preliminary interview 2wks ago and I've been going through the training, haven't done the Q&A or tests yet either, did you send them the cert of fiscal residency? I'm currently unemployed and trying to find the right way of doing this and not cause any problems for myself and do it all legit etc, are you working? did you give them availability etc?. did they tell you how long it would take to get classes? sorry I have so many questions about this and have been trying to get answers to know what I should do, I'd appreciate any info from you, thanks.. |

Hi Albalass, I registered as self employed after finishing the training with them but I've still not sent them the fiscal residency letter. I was told they were hoping to have some classes in a couple of weeks. I'm not working at the moment so waiting is tough. |

Hi, good to know Sashacleo, but not so good news that you've been waiting so long, I was wondering what to do if it all went well and I was offered work, I kinda got the impression that after going through the process and offering availability, the classes would start, I thought they might have students waiting,(I did wait more than 2mths for a reply from them after applying the beginning of November last year) and I can't sign off unemployment and register as self employed without a guarantee of enough work to survive, bit of a quandry!! I've also just contacted ISUS to schedule the Q & A session maybe on Friday, thought I might as well do that anyway, I've been told by HMRC it can take 4wks for the cert of fiscal residency to be processed and sent to you, and as you won't get paid from ISUS without it, it's necessary, I'm not sure whether to continue with the process or put it on hold until I get a job, which is no mean feat as I'm sure you'll know... I hope you get some students quickly .. |
