|
|
So I am am leaving my school after finishing the contract. It expires June 30 but school finished the 20th.
They asked me to stay and gave higher salary options as an incentive but I said no.
I took a job at a different school as the salary was higher and they paid for the summer.
So now I need to get a new visa, it expires July 30. new school asks me fo r3 things from old school. Reference letter, release letter, and cancellation of FEC letter.
They give me a reference letter. Stall on the release letter saying I don't officially finish till June 30.
Today the FAOs assistant says if they cancel my FEC then they wont pay me for June. I said HUH? The contract expires this week. She says well the school requires a valid FEC to pay you, so if you want it canceled then we won't pay you for June. That's 18,000 rmb they are trying to scam me out of.
So then she says that the FEC expires the same time as the RP visa BUT I don't think so. They took the FEC book and never gave it back to me but tomorrow I think I can go back there and copy it.
So seeing that the contract ends on June 30 do I really need an FEC cancellation letter? I have no clue but this school is of course trying to scam and stall once I told them I won't stay.
I left a blank release letter on the FAOs desk and will come back tomorrow to see if she filled it in and stamped it.
And in another thread the discussion of WHY we shouldn't wait till the 15th to collect our pay. This is an example. Scammers in China. |

What's their attitude on your airfare if you finish 'early'? |

1. new residence permit....not new visa.
2. i've never heard of an FEC cancellation letter. if you're staying in the
same province, i believe the new school may use the old FEC, with an
extension/amendment. new province means new FEC. copy of the
old one should be enough.
3. i'm pretty sure the FEC validity is the same as the contract. |

Why not wait a few days until the contract finishes and you get paid, then ask for the letters you require? It's only a few days! |

That's what I'm thinking too. According to your OP, your contract ends on June 30 and your RP expires on July 30. Surely you can hang out/hang on until the end of the month? It's only a few days away! Then, collect your salary, airfare reimbursement, your other documents you need to leave clean and tidy, and be on your way. Your new school has a full month to get paperwork in order for your new contracted time. I don't see the problem. |

i've never heard of a FEC cancellation letter either, however the old school does need to cancel the FEC, but this does not involve the teacher at any stage in my experience. |

I was planning on traveling 2nd or 3rd week of July so the plan was to get a new visa before then.
yes 30 days is plenty of time.
I just don't want to get screwed.
There is no penalty for finishing work early as classes ended the 20th and I did all my work and submitted my grades etc.
And I have an off campus apartment so there is no hurry at all to leave.
I just never heard of canceling an FEC when the contract ended and they make it sound like it's a big deal. |

Airfare and June salary has been earned.
But you know, they come up with last minute reasons why they can't pay you.
Such as sure we can cancel the FEC now but we won't pay you for June |

You've got it!
I've always felt 'exposed' when I've booked a flight out right after classes finish and I've put in my marks.
Even if the FAO has given no cause for worry up to that point, you are always wondering... |

Here's the problem I am encountering NOW.
Job A - contract finished June 30, FEC and RP expire July 31.
Job B (new job) Applied for FEC as a precursor to getting a new RP. (Work
there now)
NEW FEC DENIED! reason, old FEC not canceled.
I asked the old school to please cancel the FEC as requested by the new school.
It involves work so they said no.
This is causing problems for my getting a NEW FEC.
See the connection?
Once you tell your school you will not stay they treat you like shit. No matter how nice you were and how hard you worked for them. |

If it's in the same province, they should just give you the old FEC so you can transfer it over instead of cancelling and renewing.

School refuses to let the teachers keep it or even have it.
I never had it even I asked for it several times. |

My school also kept my FEC, but I didn't have any troubles when asked them to cancel it. Maybe you should push them more. Maybe you should try to talk to them nicely. Sorry, I really don't know what to suggest.
Another question, how did you get a 18 000 RMB per month job? |

Actually out of all the teachers i ranked as one of the nicest to the office staff and the fao. never fight with them etc.
They totally screwed a few others but that's not my business.
I even had my new school call the fao and she told a pack of lies to him as well.
So now it's scramble time as I was planning on hitting Japan and SE Asia in the next 3-4 weeks. |
