I've heard from people at a college they hired for until this year that they've lost that contract. I think they mentioned Bahwan CyberTek or GlobNet as the new contractor. I suspect that was their sole remaining contract. |

Have their offices closed down? I hope Rommel (the consistent best of a very bad bunch) fares well. |

I understand the Omani CAS recruiting tender (currently held by Hawthorn) has been opened and CfBT have been advertising on www.tefl.com for '16' teachers.
Applications are being 'forwarded' to the MoHE - make of that what you will.
I assume many of the Hawthorn teachers will transfer even though CfBT are offering an accommodation allowance instead of accommodation itself. |

Regarding the awarding of contracts, does anyone know when a decision will be made?
Is it correct that at present cfbt hold no contracts? |

Let's be honest-these recruitment agencies have all the [lack of] qualities of the Japanese dispatch companies-they don't give a toss about teaching staff. Hawthorn for example, denies teachers any paid leave at all during the academic year-then doesn't even have the decency to inform their employees 2-3 weeks before the end of the year 'if' they are being rehired or not. Somebody is going to leap to their defense and tell me that they can't because the ministry, or MOHE hasn't informed them yet. So there you have it, two levels of incompetence and/or mismanagement that should indicate a major red light to anybody still thinking of coming here via the recruiters! |

Hmmm, from what I remember there is quite a big break between Dec and Feb but you are saying that during that period you cannot leave the country and must come in day after day? |

For Hawthorn staff, exactly that. No leave granted at all, while Ministry hires were entitled to this. |

That's shocking, a high turnover of staff I would imagine. |
