What are you guys' experience with one way ticket and the Airlines to China ?

It would probably be more productive to post this on the China board below, if you haven't already. It's fairly specific, and most of the regulars on this board aren't in China specifically.

I would vote 'no' on this one.
The least downsides the better on your first job - especially in China.
A 'F' is a self inflicted wound before you even start.

F VISA - Is issued to an alien who is invited to China for a visit, an investigation, a lecture, to do business, scientific-technological and culture exchanges, short-term advanced studies or internship for a period of no more than six months.

If you are going for work as an ESL teacher on an "F" visa you should prepare to get burned and have an exit plan anyway (a ticket out of the country would be a good thing).

Quite so!
Of course you'll get posts saying 'I've been in China 10 years on a F visa and NEVER had a whiff of trouble'.
There is so much you can't control, but starting out on a dodgy basis isn't wise.
