Monthly salary: SR10,000 (BEd with 5 years experience in Gulf)
3 month holiday each summer
20 weekly contact hours
housing provided (single-status)
my own office with Internet access
my own live-in Phillipino housemaid

That salary is very low for a BA + 5 years experience. I wonder if they're factoring in one of those 3 months of paid holiday time since other unis generally provide 60 days off for the summer.

The addition of your own live-in housemaid is interesting, especially since you're male and would be in single-status housing. I assume this is someone available on the premises to clean, although this person is more likely to be male than female.

If the salary offer wasn't so bad, this detail would suggest to me that it is a scam.

Who ever heard of such a benefit? A cleaning service... but "live-in"?

Beware... don't be wiring anyone money for anything on this one. Laughing

The salary's quite low for 5 years experience. You're NOT going to have a "live-in" housemaid on single status. WHat you might have is a space in your living quarters provided for one. But this is Saudi, remember - single guys don't get live-in maids. Very Happy

John

This does not seem right...

3 months summer vacation????
You will NOT be getting 3 months summer vacation. The month of June will be non-teaching, you will be invigilating final exams and the rest of the time will be spent either attending in-house workshops or twiddling your thumbs until it's time for the vacation, usually near the end of June ...if you choose to leave on vacation earlier you will not be paid for that extra time off.

As for an inhouse maid...in your dreams! Laughing no employer that I know of would pay to supply a teacher with a live in maid not even for married teachers...if you want a maid to come and clean your flat, you need to arrange that on your own riyal...and definitely forget about a live in maid for single accommodation...NOT going to happen!
Where did you get this bogus information...certainly not written in a formal contract...something's fishy with all this...
The only thing that sounds right is the single housing, 20 hours of teaching and perhaps a private office with internet...the pay definitely seems low.

Private office ? In even the best posts in KSA sharing an office with another teacher is standard.

The live-in houseMAID is a deffi NONO - even if u pay for her yourself.

Well it does say Filipino, not Filipina. Maybe you would be sharing with a male construction worker!

Be assured you won't be sleeping under a bridge. Seriously, if you don't get employer-provided housing, then you're given a housing stipend which will allow you to choose your own accommodation. Simple as that. When you arrive in country, either ask the other teachers for tips on where to live or check with your employer for the numbers of real estate guys.

These two sound totally and utterly unreasonable. The rest is OK.

The discrimination....sheesh

Start you own offshoot of islam......one where you can have as many live in women as you want, and drink and smoke sounds great.
