I have just been offered a contract through this university, but I don't know what they are like. Probably it will be okay for me, because I am kind of used to Chinese universities, and I have taught successfully.

But what are the good points? Are there any bad points? What are the students like over all? Are they basically okay, or are they like bored petulant princesses?

What's the morale like among Western teachers? Good, bad, or okay?

Most of these students are just trying to get high all day.

Sounds like some foreign teachers I've worked with Laughing

Start class by handing out some puzzles then go outside for a 45 minute "cigarette."

I hear the school is just getting off the ground and the administration is all spaced out.

Then he may be working in a vacuum. Check with some of the older teachers here who may provide more guidance.

This was the university I was offered a position at, but turned it down, prompting the FAO and recruiter to launch a torrent of abuse via emails at me. Things might have changed though.

An extract from said email:
Dr. Anna Wang also told me maybe you are very unreliable. you will not come to teach. You ONLY made an inquire. and then her priceless time will be wasted by you.

They also wanted me to fill in the medical exam form with my details and they would fake the rest.

In all seriousness I have had problems with military personel who ran English programs in China. They are not allowed to have close ties with you. Well this is pretty much how things work with many schools. But for instance you are not allowed to go to there homes. This doesn't mean things will be bad for you. English is the language of aviation.
