Do any Americans have any tips for reducing the cost of the medical tests required for the work visa? The last time(last year) it cost over $2,000. I am changing employers and must do the tests again. Any help is appreciated.
I thank you kindly.

I ended up paying around $200 USD total for all my med tests and the exam. Check out the thread, "Low-cost US med tests & exam for employment visa," at http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=95008

I have insurance through Blue Cross & Blue Shield and the doctor was able to have it categorized as a medical necessity as I have not had a physical for a few years now. I haven't received any billing statement yet. I am hoping that I do not have to fight with the insurance company. This is the usual routine with insurance companies here in the States.

Your employer should be paying for it.

In my three different contracts my employer paid for it.

Some employers offer full or partial reimbursement while others do not. Either way, the employee has to cough up (no pun intended) the costs up front, which can be a financial strain for some.

HI there,
I'm trying to get all my paperwork ready as well. Which medical form are you using? I saw there are two versions.

Also, did you have to order all your degrees/diplomas again or can they be copies of the certified ones?

There's only one med form to choose from according to the embassy's site for US residents. I suspect you're asking about the med form and degree authentication for another country. If so, you may not get a response on this thread since it's specific to Americans and unfortunately, the process and forms for each country seem to vary. You might try this thread, "2 medical report forms - which is it,"
