 Thank you, VS.

I only sent the 2nd e-mail asking for confirmation and nearly 2 weeks later I finally received confirmation that they had received my application materials and online application.

I assume then that they're inundated with applications and people trying to get on with them for 2012. Sounds competitive now. I've been watching for several years now and finally made the leap to start applying for jobs in the M.E. and maybe I've picked a bad time to do so.

Lots of people looking for positions now, particularly with all the problems over at HCT.

first rule of the ME: patience.

Just keep trying; persistence wears down resistance.

The HR contact at ZU is notoriously....inadequate at corresponding with new hires. I found recruiting w/ HCT to be much more responsive during the application/hiring process.

 It's like night and day...but it's quality-based as well...HCT is desperate to hire..ZU isn't!

They have a person with an MA on their faculty.

Here's a list of the current faculty at the ZU College of Education and their qualifications.

				| A little birdie I know at ZU tells me that if you are in the college of education you must have PhD (or be working on one at a minimum) to be considered for a position with the college of education. Now if you are in the general education section, or are EFL you can get hired with the MA and experience. | |

Actually ZU is in need of at least 25 Academic Bridge positions, and that may or may not just be Abu DHabi campus alone. Their funding has just come through, apparently.

				| Just curious, how much do they pay the professors they hire with a PhD? | |

				| Pay here is like pay most other places: A Ph.D. in Philosophy will make much less than a Ph.D. in Engineering. I thought it was a little level here but I've learned that (if anything) the inequality may be higher.
I don't work ZU but I'd be shocked if anyone with a Ph.D. made less than 19,000. I also wouldn't be surprised by those surpassing 40k in some disciplines.

				| Mere days after writing the post above I found out that an acquaintance with a PH.D. was offered a position with Associate rank and pay of Dh 12,000. So I guess totally ignore the post I wrote above. | |

				| I would say that at least 19,000 AED a month is to be expected if one has a PhD. 12,000 AED is extremely low, even for lowly ESL folk with Masters. That said, in this day and age I would not doubt that there are places offering 12,000 AED. Salaries are certainly sliding down. | |
