Things must have changed drastically since my first time in KOSA. Arrived for a one week orientation in California Sunday night. Left Friday with the visa in my passport. Lockheed International.

Second time, same scenario, but shorter orientation.

Third time, (Avco-Dallah), also had visa in hand before arriving in KOSA.

I guess if you work directly for "heavy hitters", (Dep't of Defense, Sheik Saleh Kamal), things are easier.

You are the few. Most of us here are the many. I've seen the few like you here and all I can say is "no comment".

I believe you mean employment visa. The iqama is a residence permit that's obtained once you're in country. Specifically, it's a form of government ID verifying that you have been permitted by the Saudi authorities to reside in Saudi Arabia. To both legally work and live in the Kingdom, you'd need an employment visa which leads to getting an iqama.

There are costs associated with getting the med tests/exam and other required documentation completed toward processing the visa in order to legally enter Saudi Arabia for employment purposes. Costs vary based on the visa application and processing fees in your home country as well as the amount of money you end up forking out for your med tests and exam. Some employers fully or partially reimburse you for these expenses, while others do not.
