I have been an interested reader of Dave`s sites for a few months now and have gained quite a bit of info. and a few laughs too! Query... I have passed the interview for NET and the written test (March`04) and am still waiting for some school (any school!) to contact me. Feel a bit like a remnant in the bottom of the bargain bin! Is it too soon to panic? should I resign myself that the positions have been filled? Any point in ringing the EMB? Anyone else in this position?
Thanks for any info.

I decided to come to China on the 20th August last year and I arrived at this School on the 31st August. It is never to late as there are always jobs being offered. I would have thought June was about the righ time to start applying for jobs as the Semester is due to commence on the 1st September.
There are plenty of Internet sites where you can apply for a job directly to the School. |

I'm assuming you mean the Hong Kong NET: if so, post your query on that board, as it doesn't have a lot of posters, and probably very few who wander over here. |

Rhonda Place', with all due respect, how many posts on the mainland, exactly, have both an interview and a written examination (before even being told if you are to be considered as a prospective employee)? Also, what section of the mainland authorities is named the EMB (Education and Manpower Bureau)? Pray tell.
'Vivaleo', you need to post over at the HK forum. However, no; it would not hurt to contact the germane parties directly. Indeed, I would most positively recommend such a course of action. |

Ludwig,
Ludwig positively deplored obfuscating language. "Pray tell, "the germane parties" and "Indeed, I would most positively recommend such a course of action" indeed!
Apart from that a relevant post.
Well done!

Dear stillnosheep,
Glad to see you're encouraging the troops by following your own advice to "Ignore Ludwig".

John: For including some practical advice alongside his, sadly more common, less than withering sarcasm and his normal linguistic obfuscation an acknowledgement of Ludwig's effort was entirely appropriate.
Ludwig, my dear boy: Please ignore johnslat. He's just worried that if you reform and cease trolling he will have nobody left to play with! |

Ah, but you forget my many years in Riyadh, during which I became most accustomed to playing with myself.

Oh that's good. I was a little worried that you wouldn't know what to do with yourself without Ludwig. Now I know that you do. |

It's true. Ludwig's a misanthropic, sarcastic pedant. But he has a point.
People shouldn't post "advice" here unless they have some knowledge. Ignorance should best be kept private! |
