If the university pays for your furnished apartment and your plane ticket, and gives you about US$2,000 for a furniture allowance and a small settling-in allowance?
Is 12,000 above or below average? If the candidate has two M.A.s (one in TESOL) and a decade of experience?
Has anyone ever negotiated a higher salary with his employer? Just wondering.
The settling in allowance is 8,500 Riyals. |

Dear Sweaty,
If you haven't made a decision by now and committed to a contractor or direct hire you should start sweating. Soon the new school year will start and when you arrive late to a university you are thrown bits and scraps of other classes that other teachers have had before you. Sometimes this results in student moral diminishment. You are the umpteenth teacher they've had in the last three/four weeks. It's better to start with a fresh class as their first teacher this way you can mould and shape them as you please, but the other way around they are more resistant to any change you have in store for them.
Regards.

ps. I don't think I need to remind you that these are Saudi students you'll be teaching.
pps. Should you decide to accept this mission IMF will not acknowledge you in any official capacity. You are on your own. This message will self destruct in 5 seconds..... |
