Just a little comment for those who 'profess' to be teachers and go on about it.
There are teachers who have professional qualifications that give them recognition as a qualified 'professional.' These people work in an education industry that recognises teaching as a profession.
There are many 'schools' and 'teachers' who have a claim to be what they say they are and are found in the same company still claiming to be part of a 'profession'
following Dreaming's input saying and doing are two different things. behaving as a professional demonstrates your professionalism to your employer. You set the example. Others follow, or not, If you want to be a backpacker pi**head and frequent the local lovelies or spend your weekends flat on your back is entirely up to you. To be part of a profession requires you to act as a professional. we all contribute to our collective reputation in a small way.

Thank you dear,
It is nice to be appreciated by one such as yourself. Sometimes I have to wonder that there are people who just don't 'get it'

But it was the penultimate couple of lines which tickled me.
First there was 'frequent the local lovelies' .. I mean Laughing Laughing that is so great, first of all just because +100 points for the much neglected (except perhaps by the Sun) 'lovelies' and secondly, I knew you could frequent bars, or parks, but 'frequent lovelies'? Very Happy
Then the next treat was the implication that to be a professional you cannot spend the weekends 'flat on your back'. Those whose calling is to the oldest profession might disagree!
Laughing Cool

Oh! Well spotted Waxy! the ref was to male and female professionals. teachers are not the only ones who give 'private lessons' and supplement their incomes. Let's not go there. the last time this came up it lasted for ages. a slight reference... well.

By trade, I am a teacher. Does that make me a professional?

Dear januthin,
Not sure - but it certainly makes you a trader.
Regards,

How does one hide in the desert? I never mastered the art.
