Not much there. Small place. Good place to save. You will have to be able to entertain yourself. Books ? TV ? Close to border with you-know-where. |

There are othe threads about HBCC. Some are not so complimentary. What I hear is that it is an okay place to work. Certainly better than some of those private-sector language schools.

I worked there in the past. It was cool.
I have made some comments on the place in other threads, going back maybe two years. Do a search.
I liked HBCC...money not too bad (before dollar crashed), accom passable, pleasant atmosphere, lovely students, great hols, respect from admin, general peace of mind. |

As I write this, planeloads of new instructors are being given their final instructions before being parachuted into HBCC for mid-August and the new academic year. They will be armed with NEW copies of a course sold by OUP to replace the home-produced material that was used for years. Ah no more the texts on the T-34 tank. ("Teacher what tank ? This game ?") Or the merits of Adidas and Nike.
I wonder if the incidence of "Le cafard" is less and if the gallant captain still commands his men in the struggle against the Moors.

........................but all is not well in the "Hollow of Desolation". Disputes over payment, overtime etc. But believe me still a LOT BETTER than places like EdEx etc !! |
