I do believe that is called... singing... as I didn't see any dancing. Since the singer was Omani (by headcovering and dishdasha), surely from the Buraimi area based on the style, I suspect that those in the white headcoverings are Emirati and not Saudi.
That is surely a traditional war chant and it must have been pretty nerve-wracking to hear that wafting over the dunes as you waited for an attack.

While sitting on a bench outside of Faisaliah Mall one night waiting for our driver, my friend and I noticed carloads of young men driving past us over and over again. One guy was even holding up a piece of paper with his phone number on it. We laughed, but the young Saudi women were not laughing...they had their cell phones out and were ready to get their text on! |

It's very similar to the some African pre-war songs. It's amazing how geographically close countries have their cultures merge into one another. |
