That's emo, not ego.

The official Saudi statement ordered educational institutions to crackdown on the behavior, force students to abandon their dress code by signing a written pledge, and suspend those who do not comply.

"Boys and girls should also be forbidden to continue their studies unless they rectify their behavior," it said.

Check the dictionary, or simply, you know, read the link.

I doubt that the writers have much of a clue what it means... in relation to Saudi...

Dear trap,

Ah, I see you commented on the article (unless there's another Trapezius around) Very Happy

"The Saudi statement described emos as "rebellious" and "sensitive," while a tomboy "designates a masculine girl who wears very short haircuts."

"Some of these girls go about this behavior regularly in front of students and teachers with no shame or embarrassment," it said.

"The person is considered an emo if they are unhappy, pessimistic, depressed, silent and shy, with some exhibiting suicidal tendencies and others slitting their wrists without any desire to commit suicide. Some wear loud colors while others wear black," the statement added."

Well, either you're closing your eyes
To a situation you do now wish to acknowledge
Or you are not aware of the caliber of disaster indicated
By the presence of emos in your community.
Ya got trouble, my friend, right here,
I say, trouble right here in Riyadh City.
T with a capital "T"
And that rhymes with "E" and that stands for emo!"

The Goths are coming; the Goths are coming!!!

Regards,
John

I tried to open 'the' link, but the Saudi internet authorities have it blocked. so can not comment directly on the article, but I checked wantok's dictionary link...

Based on what I read, it seems like just another rediculous, self-indulgent teen fad. I will admit, it's not easy being a teenager in general, but it's got to be even harder being a teen in KSA. I guess next we will hear about a "special clinic" set up to cure these kids of this "emo disease". Rolling Eyes

According to the authors of 'girls of riyadh', tank girl could be the ultimate role model for saudi females.

http://homepages.umflint.edu/~kmilam/pages/tank_girl.html

They could do finishing courses in Kandahar like some of their brothers did.
