I live about 1.5 hours away from Shenyang, and am planning to do a bit of shopping and sightseeing this summer.
Is there a Koreatown or an area with lots of Koreans? I want to keep my Korean up and really need to brush up a bit. Also, I really want to buy some Korean stuff hard to find here. |

The biggest Korean area in Shenyang is called the 西塔区, I think that is right. Pinyin is xita qu. I think you will find a health korean population there. There is some good food down there too. There is one place that is a 24 hour fried Korean chicken restaurant. Its great and the food is really authentic.
All the taxi drivers should be about to get you there if you just say Xita qu. |

By the way there is a little jewel of a city up the road in Jilin called Yanji. It is part of the Korean Nationality Autonomous Area. It is great and near Changbaishan. It has a huge Korean population and can be a great weekend trip. |
