Ive been Ill so didn't return to work on time due to hospital appointments. Sent all the hospital letters to work and kept them informed. Received an email today from HR to say that my re-entry visa expired and they can't get me back into Saudi for 2 years!!! They didn't pay me for the summer holiday yet. My iqama has been blocked so I gather my bank account will be too. Has anyone experienced anything similar before? This has devastated me. |

Not to rain on your picnic, but I'd say you're screwed. |

I have had colleagues in similar position. When I was at Saudi Arabian Airlines.
If you have a friend still in that job, get him to negotiate for you, but I do not hold out much hope. |

This is one reason that people empty their bank accounts (except for a tiny minimum) when they go on leave.

Thanks guys, kinda what I expected, I emptied my bank apart from a few quid before I left. Well apparently HR are confident if I get my hospital letters authenticated and sent to London Saudi embassy to check they will be able to issue a new visa. I await with baited breath At least they appear to be trying and have agreed to send August's salary to my UK bank. Fingers crossed. |

A colleague was on a short leave in the USA when his father died. He stayed for the funeral and in that period his iqama expired. He waited 10 months fo the HR people in Saudi Arabian Airlines to sort that one out. Of course he had no income in that period. What made it worse - he was the "blue-eyed boy" ot the then manager of ELT a certain S............ Z............
I hope they deal with your problem in a more expeditious manner !

We should post a definition of the "blue-eyed boy" in the well-known ELT Saudi dictionary. Newcomers may not know about these wonderful people in the admin. |
