Where is credible evidence the Chinese will do anything?

2) Accelerated traditionalizm
3) Ignoring the hate of citizens for another nation (especially in education)
4) Promoting investments that facilitate one nation's ecomomic boost while destroying another one's
5) Building up the forces in disputed areas
6) Sidestepping the issues politically

Hey, it's always good to have a plan. We should all have something in mind for a quick get away because of war or an epidemic or a sudden change in the friendliness quotient. I just don't feel any real urgency at this point. I don't think the current 'negotiations' will result in war. Seems most unlikely.

I wouldn't count out some serious damage to Japanese or American assets in China, or even a few deaths, but the government doesn't want war and will tamp it down. Japan doesn't want war with China, either. And as was mentioned, more or less, above, the US only responds to attacks from smaller, less powerful countries.
I guess Chinese now know why they can push their luck further.

They could, but:

Possibly, but:

You can get visas on arrival in Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia and Cambodia. The length of stay varies, but it should be enough for a nice holiday!

Is there a link to sign up to receive all the embassy warnings?

Roadwalker gave links for US citizens, for everyone, it's always a good idea to register with your embassy when living abroad. Several times in the past 20 years during political situations or after natural disasters my embassy has contacted me with 'be alert' or 'don't worry' notices or specific advice about what to do. In one case they were evacuating citizens (not in the region where I lived, but nearby) but they could only contact people whose numbers and emails they knew. Register now if you aren't and keep it up to date.

For Canadians,

I'm glad you guys brought this up, I was planning on heading to China in December, but now I think I'll wait until February when everything (hopefully) had died down.

Just read this article, thought I would share it:

Remember to apply/job hunt before February.

Also, got to love the photoshopped image in that article. So Chinese (even if it does say Getty).

Schools will start putting a clause into contracts that state in the event of war, teachers will be teaching in air-raid shelters and will be paid at half rate with the other half going to the war effort.
