|

Just wondering if anyone knows which prefectures have the least rain out of all of them in Japan. Same question for humidity. Which prefectures have the most rain and humidity? Also, how do cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe rate on that scale of most/least of rain and humidity.
Thanks. |

www.weather.com
*at the top of the page, click on world, type in Japan, you are provided with a huge list of cities and can select the one you are curious about.
*Once you do that, scroll down to the 10 day forcast and you will see a button, Averages & Records. It will give you the temps and lists the average annual precipitation for the year. |

If you're looking to avoid heat and humidity, stay away from Kagoshima Prefecture. It's absolutely brutal. When a friend of mine came from Fukuoka to visit she asked if it was always like this. About 6 months out of the year it is. |

About 6 months out of the year it is. While I would also recommend weather.com, the numbers don't necessarily provide the whole story. For example, the sun in Kagoshima is very intense, much more so than in any other place I've been in Japan (granted I haven't been to Okinawa). Hence, you really feel the heat down here. |

I'd recommend that you avoid Niigata as well, if you're looking to avoid humidity.

It's humid everywhere. Try Hokkaido, but it is probably humid there too.
You're going to choose a city based on humidity and precipitation? |

Japan is number 5 in countries in the world that get the most rain.
Places like Niigata and Kanazawa (by the Sea of Japan) get a lot of precipitation.
A teacher in Kanazawa tells me that it rains all the time there. Or at least it seems that it does.
For the next couple months I am going to take my umbrella every day just in case, since the rainy season is coming.
The humidity in Tokyo is more than in the northeast of the US, for example. |

When I lived in this area it did rain a lot and it felt like it rained everyday.I never left home without my umbrella.
In winter it snowed almost everyday.
I hated it there. |

As long as were at it, I'm moving to Kumamoto City. What's the climate like there? |
