in DF anyway...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-19486171
There's a push for an outright ban on the traditional sport here in DF, and it wouldn't surprise me if it went through. It isn't very popular here anymore. The last couple of times I've gone, the 40,000 capacity stadium seemed to draw very few people and of those in attendance, I didn't see too many that were under 60 years old. |

I'm far from being the activist type (ban this, ban that!) but I have to say, as far as animals are concerned, I'm on their side; they deserve much more than many humans! I, for one, wouldn't miss it. |

Went to a bull "fight" once... It is not sport, but actually blood art. It is not something easy to understand to the so-called "developed" people in nations like the USA where people are often treated worse than animals... |

It wouldn't be a bad thing for it to come to a complete end. The only surprising thing is that such a practice has lasted as long as it has.
In spite of everything, the world is slowly becoming a more civilized place. |

I doubt and hope it never dies. |

It's been banned in Oaxaca for decades, I think in a few other states too.
I've never been and have no intention of ever going, but I think just fading away is probably a better option than a ban. |

There is a bullfighting ring in the town where I live, but it is mostly used for other things - rodeos, concerts and -not sure this is an upgrade from bullfights - rooster fights. A bullfight comes to town about twice a year, and is not very well attending (I have never been, nor do I have a desire to do so). The last time one was here I happened to be out and about and there didn't seem to be a lot of people milling around like there are for the rodeos, which are typically packed. I just saw an article in the paper here that there was some legislation introduced in Durango to try to outlaw bullfighting, it would be interesting to see how that goes. |

If it were to be banned , it would be like shutting down a very small industry. The knock on effects for some would be very hard to take. |
