I've found a lot of info here on Dave's over the years and it seems like there are a few better than average employers that keep coming up in the posts for TEFL teachers. These places don't usually require PhDs or teaching licenses. Some of these employers I've found out about through other posters such as Perilla, sigmoid, Joshua2006, Dude love Japan, Tudor, icehockey23, sistercream, Nim Chimsky, yaramaz, Turbster, kazpat, eflnoil, and Jerry and others have posted their adverts here on the job boards.

Actually, the school I mentioned is:
Mahidol University International College
http://www.muic.mahidol.ac.th/eng/
which is different from the university itself.
Any thoughts about this place Tom? |

I don't know anything specific about that particular facility but it is still part of the University. http://www.mahidol.ac.th/mueng/index.html
Both are mahidol.ac.th . |

I think this is the last year you will see an above average salary for JET Programme in Japan. Rumor has it the salary goes down for the 2012-2013 crowd.
As for those Japanese universities, average is a relative term, to be qualified with many factors:
type of university
type of contract
responsibilities
FT vs PT job |

If you're interested in Timor-Leste (East Timor), this school pays between $25 and $30 an hour (after tax)...

Hi,
Must correct you on CfBT Brunei - to teach here you do need to hold qualified teacher status.

Note: that's MONTHLY salary in RMB, before housing allowance and taxes (if you're not tax free). Average yearly salary here for people with MA's (most tutors) who have tax-free status (new to China), including benefits, is about 55k USD. Tax will probably take that down to about 45-47k.
