That's right Sarge. There is very little negotiation at ILA, they have a pay scale and it's take it or leave it.
It's been several years since I applied at ILA, and it was somewhere around $17 for the first pay band, $18 for the next. My A grade in the CELTA qualified me to start on the second pay scale. I can't recall what the other criteria were for that or the higher bands, but I'm sure they're equally black and white.
Where negotiation may come into it is with regard to schedule and class types, though I'd predict that the room for negotiation is narrow. This is why I walked away from their offer. In my interview I stated a preference for teen and adult classes, and they seemed to be on side with that, but when the offer came it was all kids. |
