what happens to your final exit visa that you get from your sponsor as a printout? some say you need to get it stamped at immigration and keep it as embassies may ask for it later when applying for a new visa. some say the passport officer will keep it. it actually says on the document itself (in arabic) that it needs to be returned to the sponsor as proof of exit, but it does not say who by. i vaguely remember one poster wrote that the passport officer kept theirs, but then the saudi embassy in their home country asked for it when they applied for a new visa, and obviously, they didnt have it, and it was a problem (i can not find that thread now, though).
any insights, preferably from personal experience?
thanks folks. |

Dear desert_traveler,
Huh? My final exit visa was stamped into my passport, as, in my experience, ALL visas are.
Am I confused or are you using the wrong terminology?
Regards,

I went through a final exit process after my first job in Jeddah back in 2009. I am currently on another contract in Jeddah at KAU.
When I went to the airport on my final exit back in 2009, a person from HR came with me and made sure that the paperwork you are referring to - a single A4/8.5 x 11 piece of paper that is printed out - was either given back to HR, or the passport people kept it. I don't remember which, but I do know that I could not keep it. I remember that another stamp was put on it, so Im assuming that the HR person took it back with him to prove that I left. The sheet of paper is similar to the single entry/reentry visa paperwork (that is also printed out) when we get a single entry/reentry visa. Yes, in both cases, you get a stamp on your passport AND on an additional sheet of paperwork. |

Dear lcanupp1964,
Ah, that "additional piece of paperwork" must have started since my time; I certainly never had one.
But I still think that calling it a "visa" must be a misnomer.

Procedures change. On one occasion - I think when I was on final exit from Saudi Arabian Airlines - I was acompanied by someone from HR who had a "chitty" that was handed over to the immigration control on exit. At KFUPM in Eastern Region no such nonsense. Because there is a busy land border with Bahrain over the King Fahad Caaseway, things there are much more lax. |

that was what i remembered that you posted here a while ago (did you or was it someone else?) and what puzzled me as well. it is written on the final exit visa itself that it needs to be returned to the sponsor, so i wonder how on earth they could be asking for it? this is so sadly typical of saudi arabia, and apparently, even saudi embassies. OR was it just an exceptional case ONLY BECAUSE they had a problem with the exit stamp in your passport? is it possible that had the exit stamp in your passport been more readable, they would not have asked for the stamped final exit visa?
let me ask you, did they also ask you for a no objection certificate at the embassy? |

You do not need the No Objection Certificate if you spend more than two years outside the Magic Kingdom. Some employers do not ask for this certificate even if you spend less than two years outside the Magic Kingdom.
When you get your exit visa stamp on your passport, and in your exit at the airport, your employer needs to stamp the separate piece of paper with an 'exit stamp' as an evidence that you have left the country, so that your employer will not be fined. This piece of paper stays with your employer and is not given to you. The most important thing about the exit visa stamp on your passport is that you have to exit the country before it expires. In addition, when you get the exit visa, your name will be registered in the computer system of the Jawazaat (passport office) and border police at the airport. You personal and exit visa information is already in their system, and you do not need the piece of paper to prove that you have an exit visa. |

I was asked for my exit visa by another employer, a rather well regarded one as well from what I've read on here. Since I didn't leave my current job, like so many things I've learned the hard way, I now know to make a copy before I leave. There is no logic to it |
