John, I'm sure there are a lot of places you've lived for 7 years. Wink I see a few more votes for Tampa too. I guess we'll see soon.

Let's go Iggy!

Calgary in 6 seems to be the popular choice, and my heart says yes to this, BUT, I think the Oilers of the early 80's proved that talent will prevail over the grinders....I hate to be a wet blanket, and I hope I'm wrong, but I would have to put my money on Tampa in 7. Vinny and Martin, Richards and Modin etc. will not lay down.

You just named the four remaining players I have in my hockey pool. I'm still rooting for the Canajun team, though. Laughing

If there's anyone out there who doesn't have access to a TV or satellite, you can listen to the game live on www.nhl.com

SERIES TIED, 2-2
It'll go 7 - but Tampa will prevail. Remember: you read it here first.

Dear Gordon,
Lightning strikes:

Lightning pull even in third. Fredrik Modin's power-play goal early in the third period has pulled Tampa Bay into a 2-2 tie with Calgary in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals

John

I've got both ears on the game via the net. Sounds like a good one.

GO FLAMES GO!!!!

From www.nhl.com

Calgary's Oleg Saprykin buried a rebound of a Jarome Iginla shot to give the Flames a 3-2 overtime win over the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals and a 3-2 lead in the series. The Flames will have a chance to win the Cup on home ice in Game 6 on Saturday.

Might the cup end up in Canada, where it belongs...it is looking like it might.... SmileSmileSmileSmile

Also the Lightning haven't lost 2 in a row during these playoffs, and we're down 1-0 as I write (early 2nd.) But, who cares, GO FLAMES!!!

I listened to game 5 on WDAE (Tampa station, nhl.com was full) and the coverage was atrocious! Completely biased, and the colour commentator sounded more like a 10-year old kid screaming at the TV with great insight such as "How was that offside!?", "Don't get fancy in front!", etc... When the OT winner was scored, the guy was practically whispering, and he scores on the rebound.

What a game!!! As of right now, we are all tied up in Game 6 going into the 2nd OT. As one of the few Lightning fans on the board (I lived close to Tampa for 4 years...oddly enough, it was in sunny Tampa, Florida where I went to my first hockey game and started to like the sport), I sure hope the Lightning can pull it out and force a seventh game, but Calgary sure is looking tough right now...

I just perused the thread and I see there were three winners: inmexico and JohnS and Mr/Mrs. Anon Y. Mus.

So what can we give inmexico and John for winning the 1994 Hockey Pool?
Since you're in Mexico and New Mexico, that rules out an all-expenses paid trip to a sunny destination.
Any suggestions?

Gee, did we win that one, too? Ah yes, I picked the Rangers to beat Vancouver in 7 games. Well, just give us another of what you're going to give us for picking the 2004 series.
Regards,
John
