English footballer Steven Gerrard being interviewed after a game.
Interviewer: "Are you feeling down after that loss?"
Steven Gerrard: "Steven Gerrard doesn't get down, he just pulls his socks up and gets on with it"
it'snotmyfault gets peeved by (usually) famous people talking about themselves in the third person |

We've had 'baited breath', but have we had 'a hare's breath' yet? Peeves me no end. For all I or anyone else here probably knows, hares can hold their breath indefinitely. So let's just stick to the correct form of 'hair's breadth' and try and spell it right, eh, chappies? |

We had "antidotal evidence" too althouigh that is more of a laugh than a peeve. A laugh at the fact that someone else is not as clever as we are ! |

Dear scot47,
"A laugh at the fact that someone else is not as clever as we are !"
Since that includes all of humanity except for you and me, we must be laughing all the time .
Regards,
John |

'Reader'. Peeves me how this word has become a techie-tool. Peeves me no end that people who use such devices to amuse themselves on public transport with all sorts of media say they are 'reading'. Piffle!
Books! They can and should be read! |

'Bespoke'. I object to the use of this word by high street retailers unless they are selling some sort of custom-made item! Like a tailored suit!!
Death the the bespoke-abusers! Not one step back!! |

'Commoner garden variety'. Shocking word, commoner, to begin with. But to confuse it with 'common, or garden-variety' should mean public flogging. The only variant that is worse is 'commoner gardener' variety.
I am empurpling with peeved rage. |

But don't only 'common' teachers use that...
Some people just don't when to quit while they are still 'behind' (but not by much....). |
