Anyone familiar with this university in Cameroon? I have to admit that seeing it abbreviated as B.U.S.T. seemed a bit strange.

What objective evidence do you have that there are "no legit jobs in EFL in this region"?

Look at the information available on the web. Cameroon - like neighbouring Nigeria - does not hire foreign teachers of Emglish.,

Follow this job through and you will be SCAMMED !

PS I belive that in Logic it is considered impossible to prove a negative !

This may or may not be a scam but it's not true to say that there are "no legit jobs" in the region. I know people who've worked for the BC there.

A scam 100% as Senor Scot states! Received emails from 2 addresses 1/Alexis Bell <[email protected]> and 2/ [email protected] What they do, (in broken English needless to add), is offer you the job immediately lol, then wait for it, yes, you need to pay for accommodation up front of $2500 or so! I wish I had saved the emails, would have made for amusing reading! I asked them very politely if Western Union could assist me in completing the transaction; they accepted of course Smile

Thanks for confirming that my internal Scamometer is still in good working order.

Reminds me of a joke

American lady : Is anything worn under that kilt ?
Scot : No ma'am. It is all in perfect working order.

This is a scam. I received the same offer, as a matter of fact, I have the same applicant number but different personnel officer. They first began to ask for money up front for my fiance's visa. Then, when I wouldn't do that, they wanted money up front for my living accommodations, when they still have not sent me a contract. They are now insisting, in horrendous English that they are legitimate. I requested a formal letter of offer on university letterhead and to begin corresponding with me via university email. They have yet to do so, but continue to ask me for money for my university apartment.
Salary is plausible, given the number of students paying private school tuition--70 students per class.

I am reminded of these words from Scripture -

A prophet is not without honor except in his native place
and among his own kin and in his own house.

I prophesied the Scam but the naysayers denied me !

...and then there's the King of all scammers...Nigeria!

419 anyone?

"Dear Scot47,

I have recently become a widow and have inherited a very tidy sum of money to the tune of $xxxxxxx that I have chosen to share with YOU! In order for me to share this sum, please blah blah blah..."

I haven't received one of those emails in a while. I never know if I should be annoyed or amused when I receive one.

Cool

Warm regards,
fat_chris
