Wasn't shorted anything. After the first month it was decided that I was doing a good job. They had me sign a new contract for another 500 or 5,000. The school had changed the number of hours I taught from the contract agreement of 18 to 26. I balked and agreed on 22. I was to get overtime for these extra classes in the end. They paid me 5000 on one salary and then it was rolled back to 4,500 the following month. The bank would not give printouts of our payments. No bankbook only a card for the ATM. I went to the PSB to check to see what amount was on their records for my monthly salary and I found out they had a contract stating I was getting 3,500 rmb. Now in China you don't argue because they are all friends and friends do not go against friends. I had a person write things out in Chinese and that person was extremely worried I would disclose his name.
Lesson learned keep records and make them sign or stamp your copy of everything you recieve. |

That sounds awful. When you say the good contract was lifted from your apartment, do I understand you to mean that someone from the school went into your apartment while you were out, and stole your contract?
Was that a state-run school or a private enterprise? Please say private language mill; I was hoping to avoid those sort of shenannigans by working in the public school system.
Were you able to get your proper contrant re-instated?
By the way, what does PSB stand for in this context? |
