Depends significantly on your qualifications and nationality.

Anyway, not Scandinavia. Few foreign teachers (needed) there.

ASSUMING you are classed as a "native speaker":

Newbie with a BA and a quickie TEFL then Korea is still the best bang for your buck.

Related MA/PhD and a few years under your belt then head for the sand dunes in the M.E. for the biggest bucks.

Certified teacher with IB or other "internationally accredited" school experience and great references then Japan is nice but you can do well just about anywhere ( 50k /anum + benefits goes a long way in Thailand or Brunei (assuming you are not American - can't work as a teacher in Brunei)).

"Best paying" has to be considered in tandem with cost of living. The place where I've been able to SAVE the most is China.

I didn't know that! What's Brunei got against American teachers? (Not that I'm American - just curious.)

Question is far too general to give a specific answer, IMO. Like others have written, you need to tell us some background:

nationality
education
gender
type of teaching situation you are looking for

I know a few who have saved large sums in KSA. Most of them are now crazy, or dead, or both.

In order to save they economised on everything that can help to preserve sanity in the Magic Kingdom.
