Sasha, I thought you were teaching at language mills in Moscow?
If you're teaching at a uni, then your claims of the glory of life in Russia are very misleading to the majority of us TEFLers unqualified for uni work.

Haven't they heard of plagiarism software (such as Turnitin) which weeds out a lot of blatant plagiarism? It's not 100% perfect, but it's a good start.
This is installed throughout UK universities. |

Yeah, but probably wasn't around 33 years ago when she did the dissertation in question. But maybe they'll start using it to vet future German ministers.

Sorry.
I mean I take it you work at a uni, if you and your colleagues are expected to publish papers and/or have postgraduate degrees?

But Qaalchoura, clearly it's not only university staff who may be caught plagiarising!!! Sasha may have colleagues of all stripes who could be at risk.
Believe it or not, I even know some Phd holders who have real jobs, outside academia .

Sorry Quaaolchoura, still not too sure what you mean there. But the truth is what Spiral has expressed. Plenty of m'colleagues seem to have rather dubious academic qualifications - and not just the local colleagues either... |

Ahh, methinks 'twas I who misunderstood you.
Do you think then I can get a job in Russia then with an MA TESOL from Francis And Kyle's English University, if I print it on sufficiently fancy paper?

As we revolutionaries are wont to say, you can seize power at the point of a bayonet, but you cannot sit on it, hic! So, you can certainly get a job in the Paradise, but can you hold it down, eh? That's the real question, hic! I think... |
