What do you mean by "totally jaded"?

I saw it as a pun.
"I'm totally jade-d in China, man."
Get it? Get it?

I understand the text book definition of "totally jaded", but what I really want to know is how does it affect your day-to-day teaching and living? I have already decided to come back for another year and may stay long-term given the mess in the States. Is there a way to avoid becoming jaded or are there coping mechanisms you employ?
Thanks.

Yes, there are. Get out more. Don't cloister yourself inside your apartment for long stretches, talk to people, see and do something. I've noticed that people who get out of town now and then and actually do something fun, as opposed to being online day and night drinking brewskis, are the happiest or most satisfied with their existence. |

| I've actually gone the other way. I've discovered that I get enough social interaction in class. Just a different coping mechanism. Whatever you need to do to maintain your sanity is okay, although it's very easy for many to fall into the "relax with a couple of beers.......or three......or....". |

Nice one with the puns. I'm green with envy.
If you were from India, I would say you come from Pun-jab.

Sorry, I'm at 17 years without a break except for 2-week trips back home every 3 years. |
Interesting. I'm wondering why. Is there little left at home for you to go back home to?
Doing 3 year stints in China without a break. wow. |

| Into my 9th consecutive year and 6th at this school without setting foot off China once. Managed to buy a home with my Chinese wife so will probably extend that to 30 or 40 plus consecutive years. |
