Can you get the following in Tokyo and how much are they?

Quaker Oats?

Canned tuna steak?

Apples?

Fresh milk?

Oranges?

Olive oil?

Ryebread?

Nuts of various descriptions?

Yes to all. Asking about most of those extremely common items is laughable.

There will be some differences, like with Quaker oats, unless you order from the Foreign Buyers Club, but frankly I am stunned you would ask about any of the other items.

No matter. I have already packed three packs of Quaker oats to be on the safe side.

I am thinking to bring umpteen cans of tuna - will I get them through customs in my hand luggage, may I ask?

Are you asking me what these items cost? Put your Google search hat on. The information is widely available, and produce prices vary with season anyway.

Why bother asking about Quaker in the first place, then?

Why even pack tuna when I just told you it's here? It's widely available. You make it sound as if you are going into deepest, darkest Africa.

I'm sure you will raise suspicions going through gate inspections when the fluoroscope sees all those cans. Leave them home.

Kidding, MUST be kidding.
I've never been to Japan, but even I would be utterly confident one can buy water there. Well, and tuna. Apples, oranges, and milk. Olive oil...... Shocked

As for the Quaker oats....some things aren't that hard to learn to live without!

Most of the items you mention you can get at the 100 yen Lawsons, to give you an idea of cost. You might only get 1 (2 if you are lucky) apples for that though. And a very small bottle of olive oil. Supermarket prices would be similar.

Oats and rye bread will be expensive. Any bread outside cheapo, over-processed white bread tends to be expensive.

You're going to the land of sushi, takoyaki, and Tsukiji. It's silly to ask if they have tuna. The milk might taste different and the fruit might be more expensive but they do have grocery stores. There's a nice little one by Sangubashi station that's not afraid of foreigners.
