You, according to the contract, have to live in ALS housing. "The use of this apartment is an integral part of this employment contract".

What happens if a teacher gets married?

Good question as most of the head teachers are married. If you're married to a Japanese spouse it doesn't apply, I guess. I've met others who got out of it by fighting with Head Office and just simply moving out. What are they going to do about it? But as I heard it wasn't a fun process.

Aeon insists the same "live in our house" clause, and a friend got a really hard time about moving when she married her Japanese boyfriend. Contracts like that make it seem like the company owns you, when they do NOT. You are an adult, you don't need a nanny.

I was recently hired by an ALS in Kitchijoji / tokyo...

They said living in the housing was optional there.
I was also told It's my apartment and I can do what I want with it and have whoever over.

Maybe this branch is more lax compared to others...

Ask the branch office that you're applying to.

That's really interesting because it's in my contract about the housing. I'm in a franchise school as well. Did you sign your contract at head office after training?
