I guess most of the uni teachers start tomorrow or in the next week.
What are other people's schedules for the semester like?
I've got 16 x 40 minute classes spread over the 5 days (first time I haven't had an extra day off), but most days just have to put in an hour and a half or at most 3 hours. No mandatory office time, early starts (thank god) or late finishes. Loads of days off due to student sports days or student training weeks.
Could be better, but definitely could be worse. |

I'll be busy this term.
26 hours a week because of my colleague doing a runner. I don't mind too much, the FAO asked me first and I'm getting overtime for the extra hours.
However I've also been told I have to do a make-up class every Saturday morning because the school is closing early this summer. All the teachers, Chinese/foreign are doing this. And no-one is happy.
Great eh!
I won't be going back in September

Four 90 minutes lessons a week - three on Tuesday, one on Wednesday. Done and dusted by Wednesday evening. |

I have six 90-minute lessons this semester: one on Tuesday, two on Wednesday, three on Friday.
That's three sections of Reading and Writing and three sections of Listening and Speaking, so I only need to create two lesson plans per week.
I will then pick up another class at the end of April for the second half of the semester--that would be one more 90-minute lesson on Wednesday afternoon.
I can't complain.
Warm regards,

Not real pleased. I have classes on Mon. Wed. Fri. with early morning class everyday. Seven 90 minute classes per week, with three on Friday which means Friday is my longest day from morning to 4pm. Not happy about that! Nobody wants Friday their long day. I don't understand why they can't at least give a Monday or Friday as an off day?? |

Yeah I had that last semester. 10~5 on Friday. More classes on that one day than the rest of the week combined. The students didn't like it a whole lot either, as many of the first years were homesick and wanted to go home for the weekend. For some of them mine was the only class they had to come to that day. The admin were pretty adamant the schedule had to remain as it was even though I would have been perfectly happy to change them to a different day or time. In the end I just told them to go home if they *had* to, and I'd mark on the attendance that everyone came. The 50% sized classes were nice in that we could end up doing some conversation stuff and more fun activities that we couldn't have done had there been 30 plus students in class.
Just found out that one of the foreign teachers has done a runner also, so I'm sure the bosses will be on the prowl for others to take over their classes. Better turn off the phone tonight, lol. |

Haha, don't answer the door either, avoid unnecessary travel outside the confines of your flat, and as a last level of defence prepare several lame reasons why you cannot possibly take over other classes at this time. |

Friday is my long day but I don't mind it. I get through it and then I feel like I've really earned my weekend. The long Friday forces me to wind down in the evening and just take it easy and rest and be fresh for the weekend.
I do get Mondays and Thursdays free from teaching so that helps out as well.

Yeah, I have the 8:15 class on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. That involves getting up super early to get on the first bus because those classes are all on the New Campus and I live on the Old Campus. Bah!
At least on Tuesdays and Wednesdays I finish the day earlier which is nice.
Ah well, early to bed, early to rise...I guess.

I seriously hate my schedule. I only have 12 classes......but they spread them out so I have 2 monday, and one teach other day of the week (M-F) at 8am. So I get to wake up, take the bus 25 minutes to the other campus for class at 8, then 90min later take the bus 25min back with nothing to do the rest of the day.
Friday I don't have class at 8am, but instead they give me a class from 7pm until 9pm........THANK YOU SO MUCH. So again this term, my Fridays are taken up by non-English majors that could care less about learning English Writing.
I feel like my time is completely wasted going to another campus for one class every day. |

I'm seriously spoilt this semester - admin moved my classes to the newish campus.
Which is a 5 minute bicycle ride/15 minute walk/2 minute bus ride from my house.
As opposed to the 2 hour commute I used to do, to get to and from the other campus - bus-boat-bus.
Hit the lottery this time, but I did pay my penance of three years of 4 hours travel for sometimes only one 90 minute class/day. |

Not bad I must say. Early classes Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and no classes Tuesday and Friday but I must schedule some office hours and 'create' one of the classes in my spare time.
I can't complain.
I hope no one ran but as of this moment I don't know.
